Does anyone have – or know someone who has – an advanced degree in a field that’s not related to their bachelor’s degree?
At least crotch rockets are really loud. “Asshole approaching!” they seem to say.
So, um, the new Swans album is ridiculously fucking great.

The maggots are falling like rain.

Outsourcing
The audience-generated promise of Beck’s Song Reader.
Last month, I expressed some concerns about remix culture and the questionable value of much of its output. Shortly thereafter, as if in response, the juggernaut of skewed pop music known as Beck revealed that his next album, Song Reader, will be released exclusively as sheet music.
The songs here are as unfailingly exciting as you’d expect from their author, but if you want to hear “Do We? We Do,” or “Don’t Act Like Your Heart… See more →

My belated first stab at writing tab.
Quicksand

Tonight, my glasses spent about twenty seconds on the floor of a crowded and rowdy Bowery Ballroom. Then they were returned to me, unharmed.

Longboard ready for the road. Quicksand show tonight. Today is Stuff I Didn’t Get Around to Doing in the ’90s Day.
Ladies and gentlemen, the USA brings it back home! I am overjoyed to report @NordicThunder is your 2012 Air Guitar World Champion!

Fist of Legend
Not many new movies are catching my eye these days, and whoever thought it would help to return Matthew Lillard to the big screen was wrong.
So, @ATT, I am getting dangerously close to 100% calls dropped. FYI, in case you feel like being something other than an unfunny joke.
Not one surprise in the aggregated People’s List on Pitchfork. Snoozerrific. pitchfork.com/peopleslist/

Somehow it took nearly seven years for @ChamberMonster and I to have our first conversation about the serial comma. It did not go well.

- Would you please stop doing that?

There’s a good story in here somewhere, but unfortunately this documentary about former Hole drummer Patty Schemel doesn’t seem to have much faith that it can reach very far outside Hole’s fan base. A lot of narrative polish it might have employed for the sake of the rest of us is eschewed in favor of making sure the fans get to hear about every last moment behind the scenes (and making damned sure everyone knows… See more →

Into the Abyss
Yesterday in Philly, my neighbor was the only person on a busy bridge that tried (and failed) to stop a jumper. What the FUCK, Philly?!

Ugh.
Emerged from my cave to find out about this Ryan Lochte guy. America, we really need to be more selective about our Olympic media darlings.
Eighteen years later, I just realized Link Wray’s “Rumble” was left off the Pulp Fiction soundtrack album, making it woefully incomplete.
Free shows with a supply/demand dynamic that makes you camp in front of a venue for hours are only free for people whose time is valueless.

Wild Flag
Made an air guitar edit this morning that is a strong contender for 2013. Is it next summer yet?
